| 内容記述 | This is a brief follow-up study to complete my article, Some Problems of the Pastoralism and Agriculture of the Fulle-Jenngel6e of Senegal: A Case Study, published in the Vol. 5, No. 3 of this Bulletin, in which the ecological context of Ful6e-Jenngel6e society was presented together with a description of Jenngel6e subsistence economy, and an analysis of their agricultural and pastoral problems. In this study, six cases of Jenngel6e transhumance are described. The term "transhumance", usually designates a kind of pastoralism found in Europe and Central Asia; i.e., "transhumance" means seasonal and "vertical" movements of the agrico-pastoral people. However, the most important and fundamental aspect of transhumance is, in my opinion, the regular and seasonal movement of an agrico-pastoral society between two different climatic regions or sub-regions. Thus, as far as the above mentioned condition is fulfilled, the term "transhumance" can be employed even if the movements are "horizontal" rather than "vertical". Movements of the Jenngel6e are regular, seasonal, and "horizontal", but often they move to regions climatically different from their own permanent villages. So "transhumance" is employed in this study. Also described are some artifacts of importance in Jenngel6e transhumance. |
