内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 This paper analyzes the visiting activity of the Central
Kalahari San in the sedentary community at !Koi!kom, focusing
on three different aspects, i.e., social relationship, social and
economic transaction, and face-to-face interaction.
1) SOCIAL RELATIONSHIP: Adolescent males far more frequently
visit the subject camp, composed of G/wi-speaking people, than
do adolescent females. Adult females visit as often as do adult
males, but their sphere of social intercourse is mostly restricted
within the same linguistic group, whereas male social relationships
range beyond the boundary of the linguistic group. The
subject camp has especially close relationships with three different
camps, the first and the second of which are connected with it
by close consanguineous and affinal ties. The third camp,
composed of G//ana-speaking people, has recently developed a
symbiotic relationship with the subject camp. The correlation of
visiting frequency with kinship distance is examined. It is
significant that both males and females belonging to the category
of non-kinsmen visit the subject camp only infrequently. Female
consanguines for the resident females visit the subject camp
quite often, whereas those for resident males rarely visit it.
Longitudinal analysis of the composition of visitors reveals that
more than thirty percent of the San people living in other camps
have never visited the subject group, both during the first
