Pung is a second-generation\nChinese-Cambodian immigrant who is both a lawyer and writer.\nAsian migrant professionals are the ‘preferred’ immigrants in Australia\nunder the policy of economically-oriented multiculturalism. As Australian\ncitizens, they have been participating in the mainstream both politically\nand socially as well as economically, overcoming an oversimplified dichotomy\nbetween majority and minority. A broad variety of ethnic, class, and generational\nbackgrounds can be seen among Australian immigrants and ethnic\nminorities.
