The object of this article is to present\na brief general view of village economic life, preliminary to further\nstudy of the meaning of labor and wealth in rural Javanese daily\nlife. For this purpose, simple statistical approach is used here,\nbut, unlike that of an agro-economic survey, the method used here\nfocuses on an analysis of family life and inheritance customs to\nelucidate the social implications of quantitative data. Based on\na study of each household's economic standing, following current\ncharacteristics of a Javanese village emerge :\n1. The right to cultivate paddy fields is commercialized\nthrough the prevailing cash rent system, thus enabling a limited\nnumber of rich farmers to increase their cultivated area and profits;\n2. Though nearly half the paddy field owners are noncultivating\nlandlords, most are retired farmers who make a living\nby renting out their small paddy field, sometimes even to their own\nchildren. Some tenant farmers, on the other hand, are waiting to\ninherit a paddy field at some time in the future;\n3. Though the present modal size of paddy per household\nis 0.5 ha, it is tending to decrease to 0.1-0.2 ha under the current\npractice of equal inheritance. Besides general population pressure\nseveral other conditions ensure a strong claim to the equal inheritance\nof paddy fields, e.g. ; rising incomes from paddy agriculture\nas a consequence of the Green Revolution;\n4. Non-agricultural sideline jobs are pursued by almost all\nhouseholds, ranging from those large scale farmers to share-cropping\ntenants. Nineteen of the total of seventy-seven households earn\ntheir living by non-agricultural jobs alone. Such households are\noften wealthier than small-scale paddy field owners. Village youth\nclearly dislike agricultural labor and seek non-agricultural jobs,\nespecially in the cities. A socio-economic study of Javanese rural\nsociety must deal with more than just agriculture, but must include\nother phenomena, such as, inter alia, the effect of pre-modern,\nrural, non-agricultural jobs in the tertiary sector (trade and service) ;\nrural-urban economic interaction; and psychological attraction\nof city for village youth.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004523","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Museum of Ethnology"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"関本, 照夫"},{"creatorName":"セキモト, テルオ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"},{"creatorName":"Sekimoto, Teruo","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_005_2_002.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.2 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_005_2_002.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4531/files/KH_005_2_002.pdf"},"version_id":"bbbe340e-8d46-49c9-b72d-4f4429a92156"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"二者関係と経済取引 : 中部ジャワ村落経済生活の研究","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"二者関係と経済取引 : 中部ジャワ村落経済生活の研究"},{"subitem_title":"Paddy Fields and Complementary Occupations : Economic Life in a Central Javanese Village","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["485"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4531","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["二者関係と経済取引 : 中部ジャワ村落経済生活の研究"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-20T19:25:07.630541+00:00"}
