Each information set stands more or less\nby itself, and comprises a sub-system that is further organized into\na larger system. Some sub-systems are for practical use and are\nshared equally among the navigators, whereas others are somewhat\nesoteric and remain mostly as the secret knowledge of a few master\nnavigators.\nThe materials described in this paper concern (1) counting\nand memorizing stars (ftaaflizi), (2) partnership of stars (yidowumw),\nand (3) canoe orientation with reference to four stars (yamas).\nThese three sub-systems of knowledge are based on the Carolinian\nsidereal compass (naang lit. \"heaven or sky\"). In this compass\nstars are arranged symmetrically around the circumference of a\ncircle, according to their positions of rising and setting on the\nhorizon, on which 32 positions are occupied by 15 selected stars.\nOriginally, directional errors or discrepancy existed in this\nnative compass, when compared with the magnetic compass, in\nterms of the actual position of stars, e.g., compass bearing. However,\nthese errors (mostly less than 20 degrees) are compensated for\ntechnically and are perceived as relatively insignificant in actual\nnavigation, since the compass enables the navigators to cognitively\nassociate one star with its partner star (yidowumw system) and with\na certain set of three stars with reference to four canoe parts (yamas\nsystem), without observing simultaneously stars at opposite directions\nor at three different directions. Thus, the Carolinian sidereal\ncompass is regarded as culturally important in the sense that\nnavigators must learn it as a basic curriculum and follow it in\nactual sailing, and because the compass functions as a prominent\ndevice for space perception.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004513","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Museum of Ethnology"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"秋道, 智彌"},{"creatorName":"アキミチ, トモヤ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"},{"creatorName":"Akimichi , Tomoya","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{},{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_005_3_001.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.3 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_005_3_001.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4521/files/KH_005_3_001.pdf"},"version_id":"afa27d81-27ff-4209-a9ab-52009bf99c50"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Satawal 島における伝統的航海術 : その基本的知識の記述と分析","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Satawal 島における伝統的航海術 : その基本的知識の記述と分析"},{"subitem_title":"Fundamentals of Satawalese Navigational Knowledge","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["484"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4521","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Satawal 島における伝統的航海術 : その基本的知識の記述と分析"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-20T19:25:13.882001+00:00"}
