Based on the author's collection of over six hundred such booklets, this note explains some of their characteristics and discusses the significance of studying them. The most distinctive feature of Literatura de Cordel is its close association with the local oral literature. It is written in verse, and, in addition to being bought by literate persons, is recited or chanted by a bookseller. This type of literary communication has two categories of senders, i.e., author (poeta popular) and singer (cantador de folheto). The cover is the sole visual element of the booklet and also an important source of information about the author. These booklets have different processes of diffusion than other types of books. To describe such a booklet provides information about aspects of this process and a thematic classification of their contents gives a concrete image of the mental world of the northeastern Brazilian. As such, Literatura de Cordel is an indispensable topic in the comparative study of popular literature.}, pages = {585--631}, title = {ブラジル北東部における民衆的小冊子 : リテラトゥーラ・デ・コルデル}, volume = {7}, year = {1983}, yomi = {アライ, ヨシヒロ} }
