report on the formation and development of five Japanese
Christian churches: Japanese United Methodist Church, Parkview
Presbyterian Church, First Japanese Baptist Church,
Meyhew Community Baptist Church, and Japanese Seventh-Day
Adventist Church. The second is an examination of the religious
and ethnic consciousness and reasons for conversion of both issei
(first generation) and nisei (second generation) Japanese Christians.
The first discussion focuses on the function of Christian
churches among issei Japanese and Japanese Americans. The
second presents data concerning their religious and ethnic consciousness
of family, church and social life.},
