 note = {In 1938 the Ethnological Museum of Japan was founded at Hoyamachi,
Kitatama-gun, Tokyo, by the Japanese Society of Ethnology.
The inventory of the museum included specimens from Sakhalin,
Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia, collected by members of
the Society. These collection were later absorbed into those of the
National Museum of Ethnology. This article analyses trends in
specimen accumulation by the Ethnological Museum of Japan.},
