Abortion is also related to magic whereas infanticide\nand contraception, prior to the introduction of Christianity,\nwere considered as a practical means of population control, and unrelated\nto magical spheres.\nTraditional cures for illness among infants are characterized by\nblood-depletion and elimination of gas, and such like, as well as the\nuse of medicinal plants, especially those of the genera Zingiber and\nAcorus.\nBreastfeeding is specifically important for administering medicine\nto infants since medicines can easily be taken via breastmilk.
