The old Indic dictionaries provide\ndefinitions for the various words for food made from grains, but\nsince they are given in isolation determination of a particular\nfood is uncertain. To remedy this situation, this paper describes\nmethods of preparation of food from grain, based on my analysis\nof the Vedic ritual literature of Ancient India. Nine types of\nfood from grain are discussed here; 1. laja/parivapa, 2. tandula,\n3. caru/ohana, 4. caru for Pusan, 5. purodasa, 6. dhana, 7. saktu,\n8. mantha, and 9. karambha.
