The old Indic dictionaries provide definitions for the various words for food made from grains, but since they are given in isolation determination of a particular food is uncertain. To remedy this situation, this paper describes methods of preparation of food from grain, based on my analysis of the Vedic ritual literature of Ancient India. Nine types of food from grain are discussed here; 1. laja/parivapa, 2. tandula, 3. caru/ohana, 4. caru for Pusan, 5. purodasa, 6. dhana, 7. saktu, 8. mantha, and 9. karambha. Further, I propose that henceforth dhana be interpreted as "parched grain," and that its traditional meaning of "grain in general" be deleted.}, pages = {521--532}, title = {古代インド祭式文献に記述された穀物料理}, volume = {9}, year = {1984}, yomi = {エイノオ, シンゴ} }
