Province, China. The language has long\nattracted scholarly attention, because of the striking similarity of\nsome lexical items to Tibetan orthography, and its entangled\nmorphological processes. In no previous study, however, has\nthere been any clear-cut description of the language's complexity.\nThe verb morphology, above all, shows such a puzzling\nstructure that no earlier works on rGyarong seem to have provided\nany convincing analyses.\nThe most complicated part of the rGyarong morphological\nprocesses is the final verb phrase, which has the following general\nstructure :\n(ka)-(P1)-P2-P3- (P4)-ROOT-(S1)-S2,\nwhere seven affixes play significant roles to specify agent, patient,\ngoal, beneficiary, aspect, direction of act, manner of act, and so\non.\nThis paper describes the pronominal affixes which appear\nin the P3 and S2 positions as a set. They specify agent, patient,\ngoal and beneficiary as well as their agreement. The manner of\ntheir specification is :\n                         P3        S2\nVI state/process patient - patient\nVI action agent -  agent\nVT without agreement agent - agent\nVT with agreement patient + agent - patient\nAfter the description of these affixes, their historical origin is\nstudied through comparison with several genetically related\nlanguages and is discussed under the context of pronominalization\nin general.
