This study aims\nto examine the basis and development of weaving culture in\nIndonesia, analyzing the various types of looms used by different\nIndonesian ethnic groups. In the second part, as the basic data\nfor further comparison and analysis, the study presents (1) a\nbasic classification of Indonesian handlooms, and (2) their fundamental\nstructure and examples of each classified type with their\ndistribution among the different ethnic groups. According to\nthese data, examination will be focused added on their structure,\nfunction, and distribution. In this study, Indonesian handlooms\nare classified into eighteen types : two types with no heddle, six\ntypes with single loops-heddle, six types with double jointedloops-\nheddles, two types with single plate-heddle with holes and\nslots, and two types with a single set of tablets-heddle with\nholes. This classification is based on my previous paper, \"Principles\nfor a Basic Classification of Handlooms\" [YOSHIMOTO 1987:\n315-447], which showed the four primary loom elements in the\nbasic structure of the shedding device, the arrangement of the\nshedding device, the warp-supporting system, and the warping\nsystem. In addition, the structure and arrangement of the\nwarp supporting tools, the use of a reed and of a flying shuttle\nare related for further classification. The names of the eighteen\ntypes of classification are given below, where (a) is the basic\nclassification code used in [YOSHIMOTO 1987], (b) is the figure\nnumber of the basic classification, and (c) is the figure number\nof geographical distribution of the ethnic groups that use each\ntype.\nLooms with No Heddle\nJavanese type\n(a=A0oba-1 type, b=Fig. 1 c=Fig. 43)\nMinangkabau type\n(a=A0obd-2 type, b=Fig. 3, c=Fig. 44)\nLooms with Single Loops-Heddle\nSobei type I\n(a=Blcca-1 type, b=Fig. 6, c=Fig. 45)\nSobei type II\n(a=Blcca-2 type, b=Fig. 9, c=Fig. 46)\nAtoni type\n(a=Blcca-3 type, b =Fig. 11, c=Fig. 47)\nGorontalo type\n(a=Blccb type, b=Fig. 14, c=Fig. 48)\nBalinese type I\n(a=Blccd-1 type, b=Fig. 17, c=Fig. 49)\nBalinese type II\n(a=Blccd-2 type, b=Fig. 19, c=Fig. 50)\nLooms with Double Jointed-Loops-Heddles\nMinangkabau type I\n(a =D12fbd-1 type, b=Fig. 23, c=Fig. 51)\nMinangkabau type II\n(a=D12fbd-2 type, b=Fig. 25, c=Fig. 52)\nMinangkabau type III\n(a=D12fbd-3 type, b=Fig. 28, c=Fig. 53)\nJavanese type I\n(a=D12fbd-4 type, b=Fig. 30, c=Fig. 54)\nJavanese type II\n(a=Dl2fbd-5 type, b=Fig. 32, c=Fig. 55)\nJavanese type III\n(a=D12fbd-6 type, b=Fig . 35, c=Fig. 56)\nLooms with Single Plate-Heddle with Holes and Slots\nAchehnese type\n(a=Elecd type, b=Fig. 37, c=Fig. 57)\nMinangkabau type\n(a=Elfbd type, b=Fig. 39, c=Fig. 58)\nLooms with Tablets-Heddle with Holes\nSundanese type\n(a=Glfbd type, b=Fig. 41, c=Fig. 59)\nToraja type\n(a=Glfcc type, b=Fig. 42, c=Fig. 60)\nThese types of handlooms can be divided into two groups\naccording to the width of cloth woven on the loom. The first\ngroup consists of looms for general use, on which cloth of varied\nwidth, normally ranging from about 30 cm to 60 cm, the most\npopular size of ,cloth in Indonesia, is woven. Sometimes wider\nor narrower clothes are also woven on this group of looms. To\nthis group belong all types of looms with single loops-heddle,\nand the three Minangkabau types of loom with double jointedloops-\nheddles. The second group consists of looms specially\ndesigned for narrow cloth up to about 20 cm. The Javanese\ntype and the Minangkabau type of loom with no heddle, the three\nJavanese types of loom with double jointed-loops-heddles, the\ntwo types of loom with single plate-heddle with holes and slots,\nand the two types of loom with a single set of tablets-heddle with\nholes belong to the second group.\nAs to their distribution, looms of the first group are the most\npopular handlooms in Indonesia and have been used among\nalmost all ethnic groups who know weaving techniques. Looms\nfor narrow cloth are found only among a limited number of ethnic\ngroups of the first group and function in subsidiary and regional\nuse for weaving specified narrow cloths.\nAmong looms of the first group, loom with single loopsheddle\nare the most popular: the Atoni type and the Bali type II\nare the most typical and widely used handlooms in Indonesia.\nFurthermore, a relative difference is observed among certain\ntypes of the generally used type of looms and among the narrowcloth\ntype looms. This coincides with the fact that the historical\nand structural transformation of handlooms overlap with the\ndevelopment of their productivity. Three types of structural\nand functional transformation can be shown (Fig. I) among\nboth the generally used type of looms and the narrow-cloth type\nlooms. Studying the transformation from the distributional\npoint of view, the following structural transformation may be\nshown (Fig. II), among the handlooms used by different ethnic\ngroups in Indonesia.\n","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004287","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Museum of Ethnology"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNameIdentifiers":[{"affiliationNameIdentifier":"","affiliationNameIdentifierScheme":"ISNI","affiliationNameIdentifierURI":"http://www.isni.org/isni/"}],"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"","affiliationNameLang":"ja"}]}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Yoshimoto, Shinobu","creatorNameLang":"en"},{"creatorName":"吉本, 忍","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"ヨシモト, シノブ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"familyNames":[{"familyName":"Yoshimoto","familyNameLang":"en"},{"familyName":"吉本","familyNameLang":"ja"},{"familyName":"ヨシモト","familyNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"givenNames":[{"givenName":"Shinobu","givenNameLang":"en"},{"givenName":"忍","givenNameLang":"ja"},{"givenName":"シノブ","givenNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"62","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"},{"nameIdentifier":"1000010124231","nameIdentifierScheme":"CiNii ID","nameIdentifierURI":"http://ci.nii.ac.jp/nrid/1000010124231"},{"nameIdentifier":"10124231 ","nameIdentifierScheme":"e-Rad","nameIdentifierURI":"https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/ja/search/?qm=10124231 "}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_015_1_001.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"21.2 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_015_1_001.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4295/files/KH_015_1_001.pdf"},"version_id":"71cae299-d26b-4cd4-b8d9-adcbb107eda6"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"インドネシアにおける手織機の類型論的研究 :(1)型式と分布","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"インドネシアにおける手織機の類型論的研究 :(1)型式と分布"},{"subitem_title":"Typological Studies of Indonesian Handlooms : (1) Types and Distribution","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["446"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4295","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["インドネシアにおける手織機の類型論的研究 :(1)型式と分布"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-11-19T06:51:23.783047+00:00"}
