This water-offering ritual is also performed\nas a part of the abhiseka ceremony and the homa ritual.\nAbhayakaragupta (11c-12c) describes this ritual elaborately in\nhis famous ritual compendium, the Vaircivali-niima-mandalopayika,\nand in his homa treatise, the Jyotirmailjari. Similar descriptions\ncan be found in Jagaddarpana's VajracciryakriyasamuccayaT. his\narticle outlines the water-offering ritual mainly on the basis of\nthese works and studies its characteristics.\nThe water offered to the deities is of four kinds, viz., arghya\n(water offered at the reception of an honoured guest), padya\n(water for washing the feet), acamana (water for sipping) and\nproksana (water for sprinkling). Abhayakaragupta and Jagaddarpana\ndescribe the materials for the water vessels, the\nsubstances added to the water, the position of the vessels, the\nmethod of offering each kind of water and the mantras recited\nduring the offering. Abhayakaragupta also mentions some\nvariant opinions about the order of the water-offering and the\nbody parts of the deities to which the four kinds of water are\noffered.\nTwo points are of special importance in this ritual.\n1) Only three vessels are used for four kinds of water, since one\nvessel is used for both acamana and proksana. 2) The water jar\ncalled Varvakrtkalaia (jar for all purposes)' contains water which\nis not offered to the deity, but sprinkled on the performer and the\nritual implements.\nThe water-offering ritual has its origin in the ceremonial\nreception of special guests already described in the Grhyasatras,\nand its counterpart can be found in the puja ritual (worship\nservice) performed in Hinduism. Three kinds of water, arghya,\npadya and acamana, are offered at the reception of a guest and in\nthe puja. The proksana water is sprinkled not on the deity, but on\nthe performer and the ritual implements. The acamana water\nis offered to the deities for sipping and is also sipped by the\nperformer.\nThe water used in these rituals is of two types, water for\noffering to the deities and water for the performer's purification.\nArghya and padya belong to the former type and proksana originally\nforms part of the latter type. Acamana belongs to both types.\nWhile in Hindu ritual the act of proksana refers to sprinkling\nwater on the performer, in the water-offering ritual described by\nAbhayakaragupta and Jagaddarpana, proksana refers to the\nwater sprinkled on the deity, and for this purpose water from\nthe acamana vessel is used. Sprinkling water on the performer\nis called abhyuksana and is performed with water from the\nsarvakrtkalaia. The proksana water is offered along with three\nother kinds of water. However, there is no separate vessel for\nproksana, and the water in the acamana vessel is used.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004276","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Museum of Ethnology"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"森, 雅秀"},{"creatorName":"モリ, マサヒデ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"},{"creatorName":"Mori, Masahide","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_015_4_004.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.4 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_015_4_004.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4284/files/KH_015_4_004.pdf"},"version_id":"c36e1ad6-67a8-4fc7-adfd-1d4e44e7058a"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"インド密教儀礼における水","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"インド密教儀礼における水"},{"subitem_title":"Water in the Tantric Buddhist Rituals in India","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["443"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4284","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["インド密教儀礼における水"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-20T19:28:35.308593+00:00"}
