This\npaper tries to describe and analyze the continuity and transformation of\nAustrian household-graves, emphasizing the social relationship of\nhousehold members involved. It will be shown that woman's services\nare indispensable in the maintenance of the continuity of the\n\"household-grave\" (der Grab des Hauses). My fieldwork was carried\nout in south-east Carinthia in Austria (identified as N parish) in 1986-7\nand 1988-9 for 15 months.\nAustrian households may own more than one grave. However,\nhousehold members give a special recognition to one of their graves as\ntheir \"household-grave\", to which they have a particular sense of belonging.\nThe distinction between heirs and non-heirs used to be crucial\nin this context. In Austrian households, heirs were allowed traditional\nmarriages and inherited household-graves from their parents. The\nnon-heirs were excluded from marriages and could not form their own\nhouseholds. They were buried in the graves of their natal household\nover which they did not have any control.\nThis distinction between heirs and non-heirs has blurred since the\n1960's, as a result of increased opportunities of wage labor outside of N\nparish. The non-heirs began to found their own households and\nhousehold-graves through their incomes from wage labor. This process\nis reflected in the social relations underlying the scenery of the\nchurchyard. First, the number of household-graves among graves in the\nchurchyard increased rapidly since the 1960's. Second, the social relations\ninscribed on epitaphs have transformed. Most names carved on\ngravestones used to be the name of the heir only, or the heir and his/her\nspouse. However, the epitapfs constructed after the 1960's carry the\nnames of an increased number of people, who are related through\nparent-child rlationship.\nHowever, women's roles in maintaing graves remain crucial despite\nthese changes. It is a woman's daily practice that distinguish graves of\nher household from those of other households. Graves can remain\nwithin a household only when a housewife takes care of them\nregularly. It is within her decision-making whether she keeps a certain\ngrave within her household or gives it away to other households, if\nthe grave is not the household-grave. She keeps daily services to her\ngaves, because she has looked after dying household members to their\nlast moment, and has given them a funeral. At the same time, she\nremains the core of a diffusing solidarity of her family, since she\nprovides occasional hospitality to her own children who have already\nmarried out, particulary on All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.\nThus, it is possible to say women's roles underlie the continuity of\nthe household-grave across generations. While the distinction between\nheirs and non-heirs in the continuity of household-graves has blurred\nthrough the introduction of wage labor, women's role as a key figure in\nmaintaining household-graves remains intact.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004265","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Museum of Ethnology"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNameIdentifiers":[{"affiliationNameIdentifier":"","affiliationNameIdentifierScheme":"ISNI","affiliationNameIdentifierURI":"http://www.isni.org/isni/"}],"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"","affiliationNameLang":"ja"}]}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Mori, Akiko","creatorNameLang":"en"},{"creatorName":"森, 明子","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"モリ, アキコ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"familyNames":[{"familyName":"Mori","familyNameLang":"en"},{"familyName":"森","familyNameLang":"ja"},{"familyName":"モリ","familyNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"givenNames":[{"givenName":"Akiko","givenNameLang":"en"},{"givenName":"明子","givenNameLang":"ja"},{"givenName":"アキコ","givenNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"78","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"},{"nameIdentifier":"1000000202359","nameIdentifierScheme":"CiNii ID","nameIdentifierURI":"http://ci.nii.ac.jp/nrid/1000000202359"},{"nameIdentifier":"00202359","nameIdentifierScheme":"e-Rad","nameIdentifierURI":"https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/ja/search/?qm=00202359"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_016_2_001.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.8 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_016_2_001.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4273/files/KH_016_2_001.pdf"},"version_id":"f23fb550-732c-4ec4-b005-ff4969d6c464"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"オーストリア|墓|生活共同集団|女性|サービス|近代化","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Austria|grave|household|woman|service|modernization","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"オーストリア農村における「家の墓」と女性のサービス","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"オーストリア農村における「家の墓」と女性のサービス"},{"subitem_title":"Woman's Services in the Continuity of the Household grave: A Case Study from a Parish in South east Carinthia","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["441"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4273","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["オーストリア農村における「家の墓」と女性のサービス"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-11-19T07:34:08.109915+00:00"}
