Structural analysis is applied to \"the\nyouths' dance (hiyari) \" performed by the Koegu in the Lower Omo\nValley, southwestern Ethiopia. Most of the data presented here was\ntaken during my fieldwork in 1988-90.\nThe Koegu, 500 in number, is one of the minor ethnic groups in this\narea living on small scale horticulture, fishing, hunting and gathering,\nand honey collecting. The people have been kept for a long time in a\nsubordinate position to the Kara, their southern neighbours. On the\nother hand, they have also been under the strong influence of the\nNyangatom, who are pastoralists. The Koegu have many Nyangatom\nand Kara songs, and some Nyangatom dances in their repertory. They\nsing songs not only of these two groups but also of their six adjoining\ngroups. Why do they sing and dance in the way of their neighbours ?\nIn a sequence of \"the youths' dance\", the first stage always begins in\na leaping dance and songs of the Nyangatom, which symbolically express\nthe world view of the pastoralist. In the second stage, however, the\ndance form turns to a couple dance, the variety of languages in the singing\nincreases, and the meanings of the words become obscene and sexually\nmocking against the Kara. In this liminal situation, the peoples'\nemotion is thrown into ecstasies and the value of structured life is\noverturned. Finally, the third stage is transformed into the Koegu dance\nand songs. Stability is restored again. However, the order of this stage\nis associated not with the Nyangatom but with the Koegu way of life.\nThe dilemma within the Koegu society is that the people hope to be\nreleased from their subjection to the Kara, but this implies being taken\nunder the patronage of the Nyangatom. Consequently, their ethnic\nidentity as forager might be lost and changed to one as pastoralist. \"The\nyouths' dance\" is a political performance which states the dilemma of\ntheir future identity.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004251","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Museum of Ethnology"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"松田, 凡"},{"creatorName":"マツダ, ヒロシ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"},{"creatorName":"Matsuda, Hiroshi ","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_017_1_002.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"3.6 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_017_1_002.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4259/files/KH_017_1_002.pdf"},"version_id":"348c2d90-667a-4a14-89d8-b921827d46ee"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"エチオピア西南部|オモ川下流平原|コエグ|歌とダンス|民族間関係","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"outhwestern Ethiopia|Lower Omo Valley|the Koegu|dance and songs|interethnic relations","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"採取民コエグの歌とダンス : エチオピア西南部,オモ川下流平原の民族間関係","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"採取民コエグの歌とダンス : エチオピア西南部,オモ川下流平原の民族間関係"},{"subitem_title":"The Dance Among the Koegu of Ethiopia : Identity and Interethnic Relations of the Forager","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["438"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4259","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["採取民コエグの歌とダンス : エチオピア西南部,オモ川下流平原の民族間関係"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-20T17:17:13.763178+00:00"}
