Hiri Motu is one of the SOV type Austronesian\nlanguages, known as Austronesian Type II, which is spoken around Port\nMoresby, Papua New Guinea as the principal lingua franca. In particular\nI compare the use of Hiri Motu topic maker be and actor marker\nese with Japanese postpositions wa (topic) and ga (nominative) . The\nstudy is based on the language data from the Hiri Motu version of the\nNew Testament (the Gospel) , which has been made into the Key-Wordin-\nContext (KWIC) at the National Museum of Ethnology. In this text,\nbe and ese are used up to 3,789 and 2,108 times, respectively.\nHiri Motu and Japanese apparently follow the same word order, i.e.\nSOV, but as far as the syntactic device is concerned, the affix order in\nHiri Motu, i.e. sVo (s: subjective prefix, o: objective suffix) should be\nrecognized as a distinct type of Japanese word order, reflecting\nanaphorically S and 0 within a sentence and forming a smallest sentence\nnucleus grammatically.\nAs the result of an exhaustive survey, the present paper points out\nthat be in Hiri Motu is able to topicalize the whole elements including ese\nphrase in a sentence, such as `taunina ese be ... (the body-actor ...)' (the\nonly example: Mat vi. 25) , `daika be ... (who ... ?)' (9 examples: Luk\nix. 46, etc.) , being different from Japanese in that the chaining ga + wa,\nor interrogatives + wa is ungrammatical, by reason that the ga-marked\nsubject expresses non-topic in opposition to the wa-marked topic, and\ninterrogatives cannot be topicalized for their indefiniteness. Regarding\nthis phenomenon, the chaining `... ga + interrogatives' doesn't occur in\nJapanese. This improbability is caused by the reason that the chaining\n`... ga + interrogatives' presumes such an implicitly topicalized sentence\nas ' (interrogative + wa) ... ga + interrogative', and that, after all, the\ninterrogative becomes topic.\nWhat is interesting is that the combination `... ese + interrogative'\nis unacceptable in Hiri Motu too, but this outward coincidence results\nfrom the different reason that the ese-marked actor semantically forms\nthe exclusive relation with interrogatives in Hiri Motu, and it seems that\nthe new tendency is appearing, rather focussing the actor in itself\npragmatically, as seen in such a sentence `Tau ese daika is dogoatao?'\n(Whom [daika] is the man [tau] holding [dogoatao]?) .","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004207","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Museum of Ethnology"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"崎山, 理"},{"creatorName":"サキヤマ , オサム","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"},{"creatorName":"Sakiyama , Osamu","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{},{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_019_1_001.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"795.4 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_019_1_001.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4215/files/KH_019_1_001.pdf"},"version_id":"68158f2c-69b5-461b-8a1e-c1647b81c19d"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"オーストロネシア語族2型|日本語|語順|主題化|転位陰題","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Austronesian Type II|Japanese|word order|topicalization|implicit topic","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"ヒリモトゥ語の類型:辞順と後置詞 : KWIC資料に基づく通言語的研究","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"ヒリモトゥ語の類型:辞順と後置詞 : KWIC資料に基づく通言語的研究"},{"subitem_title":"Affix Order and Postpositions in Hiri Motu : A Cross-Linguistic Survey","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["430"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4215","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["ヒリモトゥ語の類型:辞順と後置詞 : KWIC資料に基づく通言語的研究"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-20T17:17:40.756723+00:00"}
