The most worrying in point of view of the conservation\nof the collections was the water accident. The heads of two\nsprinklers, installed in one of the exhibition rooms, fell due to the earthquake\nshock. Nearly 10 tons of water flowed out within 4 minutes.\nWater submerged the exhibition room and then, passed through the floor\nand leaked into a downstairs room, where hundreds of textiles (clothes\nand related objects) from Guatemala and-Mexico were stored temporarily\nin view of a special exhibition.\nDuring the first conservation inquiry, we found that the leaked\nwater contained iron ions. This is the reason why we decided on\nemergency treatment of the submerged textiles.\nAt first, all the objects which had been stored near the flooded areas\nwere examined under normal and ultra-violet lights, in order to investigate\nthe state of damage. Among the 124 objects examined, 82 had\nsuffered damage (some of them had suffered two or more kinds of\ndamage) : 67 with water stains, 15 with color stains, 10 having a risk of\nmold growth, and 11 having marked old mold stains.\nThe clothes or related objects at risk of mold growth were im-\nmediately separated from the rest of the collections, put into plastic\nbags, and treated with paraformaldehyde.\nThose having water stains needed to be washed as quickly as possible,\nso as to eliminate still soluble iron ions. The textiles were in a good\nconservation condition, but unfortunately, some dyes were soluble in\nwater. After trial and error, two methods of wet cleaning were finally\nadopted.\na) For those which were water resistant: cleaning with de-ionized water\n(with 1 drop of detergent) in an ultrasonic bath, followed by many rinsings\nwith de-ionized water.\nb) For those which were not water resistant: wet cleaning on sheets containing\nhigh water absorption synthetic resins. In this case, the object to\nbe washed was placed on high water absorption sheets (it was more convenient\nto use adult diapers which were flat and big in size) , and the\nwater stains were washed out by pressing several times, from the surface,\na lump of cotton damped in de-ionized water. It is necessary to damp\nthe object as a whole, otherwise new water stains will appear to the areas\nbetween wet and dry parts. For the areas containing non water resistant\ndyes, de-ionized water was splashed very gently, without any pressing.\nMold or color stains were not harmful for conservation purposes,\nbut were judged unesthetic for the exhibition. Mold residues on the surface\nof the clothes were removed gently with a toothbrush. Color stains\nand mold stains still remaining were treated with a diluted solution of\nhydrogen peroxide, or with Chloramine T (C7H7C1NaNO2S.3H20) .\nBesides, as we were dealing with ethnological collections, we took\ngreat care to preserve the stains which were due to the everyday activities\nof the former users, judging that these stains have a scientific value for\nscholars.\n","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004181","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"園田, 直子"},{"creatorName":"ソノダ, ナオコ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"},{"creatorName":"Sonoda, Naoko","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{},{},{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_020_3_001.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"7.8 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_020_3_001.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4189/files/KH_020_3_001.pdf"},"version_id":"4197fdbc-7cf5-4621-b540-e45ada718bed"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"冠水衣類|保存処置|鉄イオン|水による輪じみ|色の溶出じみ","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"submerged textiles|conservation treatment|iron ions|water stains|color stains","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"スプリンクラー事故で冠水した衣類等に施した緊急保存処置に関する報告 : 阪神・淡路大震災による被災資料の例","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"スプリンクラー事故で冠水した衣類等に施した緊急保存処置に関する報告 : 阪神・淡路大震災による被災資料の例"},{"subitem_title":"Emergency Treatment of Textiles Submerged by a Sprinkler Accident : A Case of Damage Caused by the Great Hanshin Earthquake","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["424"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4189","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["スプリンクラー事故で冠水した衣類等に施した緊急保存処置に関する報告 : 阪神・淡路大震災による被災資料の例"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-06-20T17:18:29.612929+00:00"}
