For example, relations between the Romanian Orthodox\nChurch and the Greek Catholic Church are strained. Leaders in\nboth Churches are involved, as are believers in villages where both\nchurches are present. This conflict has strained the collectivity of many\nvillages and has divided communities into opposing groups. In addition,\nthe number of sectarians has increased since the revolution, and\nthis also undermines the established churches in cities and villages. Sect\nactivity is also a threat to the traditional collectivity of village communities.\nIn this paper I describe three factors that have brought about\nthese phenomena in a small village in the Maramure§ district of\nRomania. This paper is based on field work conducted in 1994 and\n1995.\nThe first important factor is the social structure of the tradional\nvillage. Villagers are dependent on the Church that each parish priest\nrepresents. Traditionally, villagers have been obliged to obey the\nauthority of the ecclesiastical hierarchy. The annual cycle of each\nvillage is deeply linked to the sequence of church feasts. The personal\nlife cycle of each villager is also linked to the church. For birth, marriage\nand funerals, there is a strong dependence on priests. Villagers are\nquickly involved in any religious conflict and generally follow the attitude\nof their local priest in conflicts with other religious groups.\nA second important factor is the strong antipathy between the\nRomanian Orthodox and the Greek Catholic that has existed since the\nestablishment of the Greek Catholic Church in the 17th century. There\nis no great difference in the daily religious practices of Orthodox and\nGreek Catholic villagers. As far as the villager is concerned, the\ndifference is only apparent in some words of ritual. But there are great\ndifferences in the values on which each church is based historically. The\nRomanian Orthodox Church is believed to represent more traditional\nvalues, while the Greek Catholic Church is associated with more modern\nvalues. From 1948 until 1989, activity by the Greek Catholic Church\nwas completely banned. Since 1989, the traditional conflict has become\nimportant again, with the return of priests and villagers to the Greek\nCatholic Church.\nThe third important factor is the very recent impact of western\nEurope, following the 1989 revolution. Contact with western Europe accelerated\ncommunity breakdown by encouraging individualistic values\nand independence from church authority. More people have become indifferent\nto the long-established churches and have been attracted by new\nsects and new religions. As community power lessens, people feel less\nneed to participate in church activities, and as fewer people participate in\nchurch activities, they become less conscious of the significance of community.\nThis negative feedback cycle was triggered by the loss of social\nnetworks that existed before the revolution. People are now obliged to\nstruggle individually for survival, and they seek spiritual comfort in sect\nactivity. Evangelical movements (sects) give people a new sense of\nbelonging to a community, and offer chances for support from western\nEurope.","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_9_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.15021/00004151","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_9_publisher_33":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"国立民族学博物館"}]},"item_9_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Museum of Ethnology"}]},"item_9_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN00091943","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_9_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"0385-180X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_9_version_type_16":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNameIdentifiers":[{"affiliationNameIdentifier":"","affiliationNameIdentifierScheme":"ISNI","affiliationNameIdentifierURI":"http://www.isni.org/isni/"}],"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"","affiliationNameLang":"ja"}]}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Shinmen, Mitsuhiro","creatorNameLang":"en"},{"creatorName":"新免, 光比呂","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"シンメン, ミツヒロ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"familyNames":[{"familyName":"Shinmen","familyNameLang":"en"},{"familyName":"新免","familyNameLang":"ja"},{"familyName":"シンメン","familyNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"givenNames":[{"givenName":"Mitsuhiro","givenNameLang":"en"},{"givenName":"光比呂","givenNameLang":"ja"},{"givenName":"ミツヒロ","givenNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"64","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"},{"nameIdentifier":"1000060260056","nameIdentifierScheme":"CiNii ID","nameIdentifierURI":"http://ci.nii.ac.jp/nrid/1000060260056"},{"nameIdentifier":"60260056","nameIdentifierScheme":"e-Rad","nameIdentifierURI":"https://kaken.nii.ac.jp/ja/search/?qm=60260056"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2015-11-19"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KH_022_1_002.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.2 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KH_022_1_002.pdf","url":"https://minpaku.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4159/files/KH_022_1_002.pdf"},"version_id":"f8fdca9f-ccef-4f04-bc1e-ae44b3342269"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"宗教対立|ルーマニア正教会|グレコ・カトリック教会|セクト|社会主義","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"religious conflict|Romanian Orthodox Church|Greek Catholic Church|sect|socialism","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"農村の宗教対立を通してみた転換期のルーマニア社会","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"農村の宗教対立を通してみた転換期のルーマニア社会"},{"subitem_title":"Social Change and Religious Conflict in a Romanian Village","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"9","owner":"17","path":["418"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2010-02-16"},"publish_date":"2010-02-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"4159","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["農村の宗教対立を通してみた転換期のルーマニア社会"],"weko_creator_id":"17","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-11-19T06:57:15.101358+00:00"}
