It has very few speakers, and therefore can\nbe considered as a language in danger of extinction. We have chosen\nXiandao as a case study of an endangered language, mainly because\nthe causes of the decline and disappearance of the Xiandao language\nare various, but ethnic group separation is the most important factor.\nOnly fifty years ago, some Xiandao people lost their native language\nand came to use Chinese instead; others use the Jingpo language as\ntheir main language, while their native language plays a secondary\nrole. The endangered language Xiandao experiences language contact\n→bilingualism→language shift. The two movements accelerate language\nshift.
